Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
