'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful strike from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the home end to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory sealed an extraordinary comeback given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. Amid the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that far out," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right defensive wing after the team changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the opposition who praised the way Orient played positively.

City's Quality

"Physically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It feels like they always find their target and they are adept at manage and slow down a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was likely a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that development for club and country, excelling for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This marks quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was shut owing to conditions of -15C. "It was a long trip and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged his mid-teens? "It was relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it reached a stage where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the transport team, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, the Brazilian, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to interact with the teammates but I'm planning to be the following person to stop using the bus and on the road. Franco is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would mix with followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
